Call it what it was: hubris, arrogance, a collective delusion of grandeur… We thought we were the only beings in this universe and that with our grand intellect and glorious empires we were the best humanity would ever be.

And then came Aether.

And along with Aether came mental expansion, form mutation, matter warping, time manipulation, and the discovery of new worlds, new peoples, new and terrifying possibilities.

And with Aether came the doom of humankind. Aether brought the Martians to our world, and the unravelling of the reality we knew.

Trinity Continuum: Aether is a game of steampunk adventure, exploration, and mystery set in 1895 in the Trinity Continuum. In the decade prior, Nikola Tesla identified and learned to harness Aether, an energy source capable of spinning new realities or unwinding the effect to restore reality. Now, Aether users dot the globe, silently spinning and unwinding with ease while Victorian era society goes about unaware of the dangerous experiments taking place in underground laboratories, dark alleys, and foreign worlds.

Inventors skulk in their secret societies, building new devices with the goal of pioneering exploration, medicine, warfare, and more. The few fortunate enough to wield the apparatus, drink the tonic, or pass through an Aether Gate, may believe they’re pushing humankind into a new, golden scientific age, but just as many take Aether for their own aggrandizement. Aether experimentation has mutated and warped many of its users, sometimes beyond human reckoning.

In the background of this secret dabbling in forbidden science, humanity’s devil-may-care attitude to Aether may be responsible for drawing the attention of the greatest threat our planet and species has ever encountered: the Martians. Soon, it’ll be impossible to keep the use of Aether clandestine, as alien invaders crash into our planet’s surface, keen to vaporize, harvest, and enslave its people.

Will Aether’s users — dubbed Aethernauts by those who know of this new science and its practitioners — make themselves known and defend the Earth against our great foes, or will they only empower themselves and let the unenlightened fall to the depredations of Aether-spawned monsters, tears in reality, and the power-hungry Martians?

In Trinity Continuum: Aether, you play as Squires, Gogs, or even Magogs. Squires are individuals capable of wielding Aether devices to spin reality. Gogs have learned to use Aether to enact a temporary change, either in themselves or others. Magogs have stepped outside the bounds of humanity, enacting permanent physical changes, and are able to use Aether without the aid of a device or prompt.

In this game, you can join the war to stop the Martian invasion; hunt down monsters who use Aether for nefarious purposes; use Aether to spin fantastic new realities; protect reality by unwinding dangerous Aether events; and explore strange places and lost civilizations.
